Fear is my enemy, a true foe
that slays that which I love
It explodes upon the scene
and devistates those around me
The sent of fear is a
constant companion, never far off
Why does it not touch me and
bring it's ruin direct
I stand before you straight
and direct gazing upon the horizon
To find out what's on the
other side of the mountain drives me on
And yet when I turn to you
you are on the floor shivering with fear's wound
I extend my hand to you to
help but you are unresponsive, locked in fears embrace
As long as you focus on the
now you are strong and fine with an easy laugh
It is the future that
terrorizes you and weakens your resolve
I try to share the wonder of
it all with you to ease your mind
But you shatter before me as
my enemy fear pierces you through
Am I to remain on this field
of battle the last to stand before fear
I am untouched while I see
the wounded all around me
Or am I to discover fear has
a weapon that can shatter me too
Why do I desire to confront
fear and lose just to not be the last on this field
Fear is my enemy, one that
strikes at my friends and makes me watch
Fear is the enemy that
leaves me untouched direct but scars me deeply
Fear deprives me of my
companions one by one as inevitable as drawing breathe
Fear is my enemy not only
for what it does to others but for each scar upon my soul
