The future holds my hope and the past is my teacher
I age but only in time as I remain the same
Change all around me and throughout me
I transform but only in form as I remain the same
I see those around me age and become old
I but intersect their lives as they rise and ebb as the tide
As the seasons go through their premutations
Life around me is born, lives and dies and yet I remain
Papier-mache dragons beset papier-mache villages
I remain untouched as the world is immolated
Time throws me to the ground and schools me in humility
And yet I remain, I always remain
Why do I remain?
